Job summary

Sentara Health in South Boston, VA seeks an Occupational Therapist to assess, plan, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relief of pain, and daily living skills. You will work with patients and families to develop and monitor plans of care.

Responsibilities

• Assess and plan rehabilitative programs to improve mobility and independence.
• Supervise and coordinate care with identified team members.
• Deliver education to patients and families and update plans of care.
• Collaborate with internal and external team members to improve patient outcomes.
• Perform appropriate assessment procedures and update formal plans of care.

Overview

Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve functional mobility, relieve pain, improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury and help build or restore vocational/ daily living skills as well as general independence.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
• Master’s Degree (Preferred)
• Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapist

Certification/Licensure

• Occupational Therapist License (Required)

Experience

• Provides age-appropriate education for clients and caregivers. Supervise and assume responsibility for care provided by identified team members.
• Performs modalities/therapeutic interventions in accordance with accepted standards of care and department policies and procedures.
• Provides effective instruction to the patient and family through standardized educational programs and/or individualized training.
• Initiate, develop, and maintain collaborative interactions with internal and external team members, patients, and family members to improve patient outcomes. Productive and efficient in daily operations.
• Selects and performs the appropriate assessment procedures. Establishes and updates formal plan of care to address individual patient needs.
