Job summary

Total Education Solutions is seeking a Remote Occupational Therapist to provide virtual support to California districts. The role includes IEP preparation, participation in IEP meetings, COTA supervision, and coordination with OTs to ensure consistent coverage and student-centered services.

You will work with a collaborative team in a flexible remote setting, maintaining schedules, documenting caseloads, and supporting families, districts, and educational teams to help students access education.

Qualifications

• California OT license/certification required.
• Access to a mobile phone and internet if offsite.
• Auto insurance with adequate liability coverage (25/50k).
• Must clear FBI/DOJ background check.
• Current TB test.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and finalize OT sections of IEPs and related documentation.
• Attend virtual IEP meetings with families and district staff.
• Provide supervision and mentorship to COTAs.
• Coordinate with a team of OTs to ensure timely IEP meeting coverage.
• Maintain organized schedules, caseload documentation, and communication systems.
• Collaborate with school personnel to support student participation and progress.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and high-quality OT services.

Occupational Therapist (Remote)

$47.50 - $53.47/hr*

*Salary range is contingent upon relatable experience, type of credentialing/certification, education, and use of a second language in your role (50% of the time).

Expectations:

• Prepare, review, and finalize occupational therapy sections of IEPs, assessment reports, and related special education documentation in compliance with California and IDEA requirements.
• Attend and actively participate in virtual IEP meetings, collaborating with families, district staff, and multidisciplinary team members to support student-centered outcomes.
• Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and mentorship to COTAs, ensuring services are implemented effectively and in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
• Coordinate with a team of Occupational Therapists to ensure timely coverage of IEP meetings, assessments, and consultation needs across assigned districts.
• Maintain organized schedules, caseload documentation, and communication systems to support efficient service delivery and successful team collaboration.
• Consult with school personnel, caregivers, and service providers to develop practical strategies that support student participation, access, and progress within educational environments.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture by sharing expertise, supporting colleagues, and helping maintain high-quality occupational therapy services.

Minimum Requirements:

• License / Certification from the state of California in Occupational Therapy
• Access to a mobile phone (for email) & basic internet (if working offsite)
• Hold appropriate automobile insurance with limits that allow driving a personal vehicle for work (at least 25/50k liability coverage)
• Must clear a current background check through the FBI and DOJ
• A current TB Test

• Varied work environments, including classrooms, clinics, and homes
• Moderate to loud noise levels and physical demands may vary
• Working with individuals exhibiting diverse behaviors and needs
