Job summary

St. Luke's Health - Patients Medical Center in Pasadena, TX seeks an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and implement therapy plans based on physician referrals, addressing physical, cognitive and psycho-social needs.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, educate patients and families, complete documentation, and coordinate care with the hospital’s services while supervising assistants and promoting excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
• TX license/approval to practice occupational therapy (OT:TX) required.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, plans and implements occupational therapy treatment programs according to physician referral or plan of care.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to meet patient and family goals and provide education.
• Completes patient care documentation, charge entries and peer chart reviews as required by policy.
• Coordinates patient care with other hospital activities and participates in discharge planning and rounds.
• Supervises and reviews care provided by assistants and therapy aides.
• Promotes professional customer service and interfaces with patients, guests and staff.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

• Evaluates, plans and Implements occupational therapy treatment programs according to physician referral, and/or plan of care. Designs programs to meet the patient’s physical, psychological, and age specific needs; Performs evaluations, tests, and measurements of functional status, neuromuscular, musculo‐skeletal, cognitive/perceptual, and sensory /psychological Functions
• Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner; encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education
• Completes all necessary documentation as outlined by departmental policy and documentation review. This includes, but is not limited to patient care charting, charge entry, completing peer chart and peer reviews, and documenting on daily schedule
• Coordinates care of patients with other departmental and hospital activities in a manner that fosters a positive professional image consistent with the departmental and hospital goals and mission statement. This includes, but is not limited to, discharge planning, participation in care conferences, interdisciplinary rounds, collaborative practice groups, the student program and community endeavors
• Assigns, supervises and reviews the care of patients and duties of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and therapy aide
• Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education

St. Luke's Health - Patients Medical Center provides inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services to residents of Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, Baytown, and Clear Lake. The facility includes 53 medical/surgical beds, eight ICU beds and three endoscopy rooms, and offers a range of primary and specialized services—wound care, general surgery, gastroenterology, occupational health, heart and vascular, women’s services, diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehab services, and sleep disorders.
