Job description

The Lafayette School Corporation (LSC), is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Occupational Therapist to support students with disabilities across a K–12 educational setting for the 2026–2027 school year. This full‑time position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students develop the functional skills necessary to access their educational programs and participate successfully in school activities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to evaluate student needs, develop individualized service plans, and provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services designed to improve student independence and educational performance.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $59,500 – $80,000 annually, based on education and relevant experience.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist works directly with students, staff, and families to identify and address functional challenges that impact a student's ability to participate in educational activities. Services may include evaluations, direct therapy, consultation, assistive technology recommendations, and the adaptation of materials and equipment to support student success.

School-based Occupational Therapists play a critical role in helping students improve fine motor skills, sensory regulation, visual–motor integration, self‑care skills, and other functional abilities necessary for success in the classroom and school environment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to assess students' strengths and needs related to educational participation.
  • Prepare written evaluation reports and present findings to case conference committees.
  • Develop measurable goals and recommendations for students receiving occupational therapy services.
  • Provide direct therapy services aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators regarding strategies to support student success.
  • Design, fabricate, and adapt instructional materials and equipment to meet student needs.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to promote student independence and access to the educational environment.
  • Complete daily treatment notes and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Medicaid, state, and district requirements.
  • Prepare progress reports and other written documentation as required.
  • Provide supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in professional development and provide in‑service training to staff as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Valid Indiana license in Occupational Therapy.
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Indiana.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, Indiana Department of Education regulations, and Medicaid billing requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings is preferred.
Terms of Employment
  • Classification: Certified
  • Reports To: GLASS Supervisor overseeing the Occupational Therapy Department
  • Evaluation: Annually by the Director or Assistant Director of Special Education
