Job summary

CONCORD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS seeks a School-based Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services supporting students' access to education. The role collaborates with educators, families, and outside agencies to evaluate needs, implement IEP goals, and deliver evidence-based supports in multiple settings within the school system.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current Indiana license as an Occupational Therapist.
• NBCOT registration preferred.
• Experience with children/adolescents in school or pediatric settings preferred.
• Bilingual skills, especially Spanish, are preferred but not required.

JOB TITLE : Occupational Therapist

TYPE OF POSITION : Certified

REPORTS TO : Director of Exceptional Learners and Director of Special Education

POSITION PURPOSE : Provides school-based occupational therapy services to support students’ access to and participation in their educational programs. The therapist collaborates with school staff, families, and outside agencies to evaluate needs, develop intervention plans, and deliver evidence-based supports that enhance students’ functional, academic, and social success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

• Conduct evaluations and assessments to identify students’ fine and gross motor, sensory, self-care, and functional needs in accordance with IDEA, Article 7, and Section 504 law.
• Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals, service plans, and accommodations tailored to student needs.
• Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, therapy rooms, and community-based environments.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to integrate therapy recommendations into the educational program for individual students.
• Design and adapt instructional materials, tools, and environments to support student participation and access.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals, providing regular updates and reports to IEP teams.
• Participate in case conferences, multidisciplinary team meetings, and eligibility reviews.
• Train and support staff in implementing accommodations, assistive technology and sensory strategies.
• Maintain knowledge of current occupational therapy practices, school-based service delivery models, and legal requirements.
• Maintain appropriate documentation, records, and reports in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current Indiana license as an Occupational Therapist.
• Registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in school or pediatric settings preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Article 7, and Section 504 law and best practices in school-based occupational therapy.
• Ability to manage a caseload across multiple school buildings with effective communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct, and confidentiality.
• Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish are preferred but not required.
