Job summary

West Lafayette Community School Corporation is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Special Education team. The OT will assess and treat students with OT needs that affect academic performance and participation.

This role collaborates with teachers, parents, and related service providers to help each student reach their fullest communication potential within the educational setting.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Eligibility to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Indiana.
  • Valid Indiana OT license.
  • Experience with children/adolescents in educational settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized IEP-aligned OT treatment plans.
  • Provide direct and indirect therapy addressing OT goals.
  • Adapt therapy techniques for diverse student needs, incl. autism.
  • Maintain timely documentation of assessments and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, Article 7 and district OT regulations.
  • Participate in professional development and supervise interns if applicable.

PAY TYPE: Salary, Exempt, Classified
PAY RATE: $59,000 to $70,000 / yr. (commensurate with experience)
BENEFITS: Eligible (see attachment)
SCHEDULE: 187 Days / yr. (including 6 paid holidays); Full-Time; 7.5 hrs. / day

POSITION SUMMARY

WLCSC is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our dedicated Special Education team. The OT will be responsible for assessing and treating students with OT deficiencies that impact academic performance and social participation. This professional will collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to help each student reach their fullest communication potential within the educational setting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Compliance and Monitoring:
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)
    • Provide direct and indirect therapy to address identified OT goals
    • Adapt and modify therapy techniques to meet diverse student needs, including those with autism, developmental delays, or hearing impairments
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, progress notes, and service delivery logs
    • Ensure compliance with IDEA, Article 7, and district regulations related to OT services
    • Comply with all WLCSC requirements for school-based Medicaid claiming
  • Other Duties:
    • Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and continuing education to stay current with best practices in OT
    • Supervise graduate student interns or clinical fellows (if applicable)
    • Contribute to school initiatives and serve as a communicate resource for staff and administration
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Education, Training, and Experience Required:
    • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
    • Eligibility to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Indiana
    • Valid Indiana License in Occupational Therapy
    • Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings is preferred

    • Assumes responsibility to remain current in the field of Special Education and Occupational Therapy in relation to evaluations and processes
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Position works indoors in a typical school setting
  • May work near others, often within a few feet
  • May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
