Qualifications

  • Ability to meet Minnesota school district employment requirements, including background checks.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) for a school-based position for the 2026–2027 school year. Key Responsibilities
Evaluation & Intervention
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, and functional assessments in educational settings.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, goals, and interventions aligned with students' educational needs and IEP objectives.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students individually and in group settings.
  • Support the development of fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-care, functional, and school participation skills.
  • Adapt classroom materials, environments, and activities to improve student access and participation.
  • Monitor student progress and modify interventions based on data and team collaboration.
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student achievement.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to evaluations, goal development, accommodations, and service recommendations.
  • Provide consultation regarding sensory regulation, positioning, accessibility, classroom participation, and adaptive strategies.
  • Recommend and support the implementation of assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
  • Deliver training and educational support to school staff and caregivers as needed.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of students ages 3–21 across assigned school sites.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluations, progress reports, Medicaid billing documentation (when applicable), and service logs.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and fieldwork students in accordance with Minnesota regulations and professional standards, when assigned.
  • Collaborate with families and educational teams to support student independence and educational participation.
  • Participate in professional development and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Requirements
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Current or eligible Occupational Therapist licensure through the Minnesota Board of Occupational Therapy Practice .
  • Current certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Ability to meet all Minnesota school district employment requirements, including background checks.
  • Knowledge of pediatric development and educational service delivery models.
  • School-based or pediatric experience preferred but not required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of pediatric and school-based occupational therapy practices.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop educationally relevant interventions.
  • Experience with sensory integration, fine motor development, assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
  • Strong communication, consultation, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload across multiple educational settings.
  • Excellent documentation, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and position students, equipment, and materials (up to 50 lbs occasionally).
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and floor-level activities.
  • Use of adaptive, mobility, and therapeutic equipment.
  • Work across classrooms, therapy rooms, playgrounds, community-based instruction sites, and other educational environments.
