Job summary

Career Links is seeking a School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide therapy services to students in an educational setting. This part-time role supports collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote students' independence and academic participation.

The OT will evaluate students, develop IEP-aligned treatment plans, and deliver direct and consultative services with a focus on fine motor skills, sensory processing, handwriting, and classroom

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • NBCOT certification is required.
  • Current or eligible New Mexico OT licensure through NM Regulation and Licensing Department.
  • Experience in school-based or pediatric settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct OT evaluations and assessments to determine student needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized therapy plans aligned with IEP goals.
  • Provide direct OT services to students individually and in groups.
  • Address fine motor, sensory processing, handwriting, and classroom participation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and service providers.
  • Maintain documentation including evaluations, progress notes, logs, and billing.

Part-Time | 1-3 Days per Week | 2026–2027 School Year | In-Person

We are currently seeking a School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide occupational therapy services to students in an educational setting. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to help students develop the skills necessary for academic achievement, independence, and participation in school activities.

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for evaluating students, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing direct and consultative occupational therapy services in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The OT will support students with a variety of developmental, sensory, physical, and functional needs while collaborating with school personnel and families to promote educational success.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments to determine student eligibility and service needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized therapy plans based on evaluation results and IEP goals.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students individually and in group settings.
  • Address areas including fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, self-care, adaptive skills, handwriting, and classroom participation.
  • Recommend and support the use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers to support student success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and educational planning discussions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluations, progress reports, service logs, and Medicaid billing documentation as required.
  • Provide consultation and training to school staff regarding occupational therapy strategies and accommodations.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, IDEA requirements, and professional practice standards.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Current or eligible for New Mexico Occupational Therapist licensure through the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department.
  • Knowledge of pediatric development, educational models, and school-based occupational therapy practices.
  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
