Job summary

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to support students in a school-based setting in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The OT will help students develop functional, sensory, fine motor, visual-motor, and self-care skills to participate in classroom activities.

The role involves collaboration with educators, families, and related service providers to deliver individualized OT services aligned with IEP goals, including evaluations, treatment planning, and direct student

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program preferred.
• Active Illinois Occupational Therapist license required or eligibility to obtain.
• Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
• Passion for helping students develop greater independence and participation in school activities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with student needs and IEP goals.
• Provide direct occupational therapy services to students.
• Address fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, self-care, and functional skills.
• Recommend and implement appropriate accommodations, adaptive equipment, and classroom supports.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and service records.
• Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers.
• Provide consultation and recommendations to classroom staff regarding student needs.
• Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
