Job summary

City of Austin, via Austin Resource Recovery, seeks an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to implement and monitor safety programs in a dynamic public works environment.

The role emphasizes field inspections, incident investigations, safety training, and coordination of safety events within a large municipal department. A Bachelor’s degree and valid Texas driver license are required; CDL Class B is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in related field.
• Experience may substitute education up to 4 years.
• Familiarity with Federal, State and Local safety regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers basic safety programs including meetings and inspections.
• Provides safety training to department staff and coordinates drills.
• Performs field inspections and investigates accidents.
• Maintains safety data and prepares reports on incidents and trends.
• Assists in developing emergency response plans and safety policies.
