Job summary

The City of Austin’s AUS division seeks an Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator to develop, implement, and evaluate the safety program for a major airport construction program, including ROCIP AUS.

You will conduct site inspections, train staff, analyze incident data, and liaise with contractors and departments to minimize hazards while ensuring compliance with OSHA and local laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in occupational health and safety or related field.
• Valid Texas Driver License required.
• OSHA 1926 knowledge preferred.
• Professional certification (ASP, CSP, CSHO) preferred.
• Experience with large construction projects and OCIP/ROCIP programs advantageous.
• Ability to use safety data and incident analysis in decision making.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive safety and training programs.
• Conducts safety inspections and audits across job sites.
• Investigates accidents and incidents to identify root causes.
• Coordinates safety activities, drills, and program events.
• Provides training and guidance to contractors and project teams to reduce risks.
• Supports ROCIP AUS safety program administration.
