Job summary

Washington State University is seeking an Occupational Safety & Health Professional 3 (OSHP3) to develop, coordinate and administer major components of Environmental Service programs at the Pullman campus.   • Four years of paid occupational/industrial safety related professional experience OR two years as an Occupational Safety and Health Professional 2 in DOSH.
  • Four years of full-time journey level paid occupational/industrial safety related experience in government, military or public health work environment.

Position Details
The Opportunity

This Occupational Safety & Health Professional 3 (OSHP3) position is a technical specialist who is responsible for developing, coordinating and administering the implementation of major components of Environmental Service programs including the management of toxic materials and hazardous wastes. As the OSHP3, you will develop and implement studies and evaluations of research/teaching laboratories and maintenance activities and facilities to minimize hazards to people and levels of community pollutants. You will develop, write, and conduct in-service training for the University community to assure compliance with regulations. As the OSHP3, you will utilize and provide high level skill, knowledge and expertise in the research, review and analysis of data, industry trends and state of the art information on health hazard and community pollutant issues.

Additional Information

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime ineligible.

Monthly Salary

$6,384.00 to $8,583.00 | Range 63 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene or closely related field.

AND

Four (4) years of paid occupational/industrial safety related professional experience OR two (2) years as an Occupational Safety and Health Professional 2 in DOSH.

OR

Master’s Degree from an accredited university in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or similar field AND two (2) years of paid occupational/industrial safety related professional experience.

OR

Four (4) years of full-time journey level paid occupational/industrial safety related experience in government, military or public health work environment.

Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and meet requirements under SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards to fulfill job responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree involving major study in industrial hygiene or related field.
