Job summary

Rehabilitation Hospital in Honolulu, HI seeks an Occupational & Environmental Health (OEH) Coordinator to manage employee health, safety, and wellness programs. This role enforces safety metrics, leads the Staff Injury Reduction Taskforce, and administers the Exposure Control Plan and Respiratory Protection Program.

The position reports to the Chief Medical Officer and focuses on data-driven safety improvements, compliance with OSHA and HIOSH, and staff education.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in occupational health or employee safety.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and healthcare compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; cross-department collaboration.
• Strong organizational and project management with data handling.
• Proficiency with computer applications for documentation and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Exposure Control Plan Administrator and Respiratory Protection Program Administrator.
• Lead Staff Injury Reduction Taskforce and Safe Patient Handling program.
• Manage and investigate all employee injuries, illnesses, and exposure incidents.
• Assist with workers’ compensation claims and health-related work accommodations.
• Track vaccination status and maintain annual TB clearance records.
• Submit quarterly workplace safety and injury data reports to the Safety Council.
• Develop, review, update occupational and environmental health policies.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and reporting standards; align with HIOSH requirements.
• Maintain accreditation safety standards and participate in related activities.
• Design and deliver staff education programs on workplace safety.
• Launch data-driven process improvement projects and partner on compliance data.
• Collaborate with departments to maintain compliance and engage in performance improvement.
• Provide temporary assistance during absences of Infection Preventionist.
• Other duties as assigned.
