Job summary

General Motors in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking an on-site Occupational Health Registered Nurse – PRN/per diem to provide emergency care, first aid and episodic treatment of injuries within standing orders. The role is ad hoc with shifts scheduled in advance based on need and availability.

Responsibilities include nursing care, clinical testing, assisting plant physicians, documenting histories and maintaining medical records while supporting wellness programs.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing required.
• Valid state nursing license required.
• 2 years of prior nursing experience.
• Proficient with electronic medical records and basic computer programs/software.
• Flexibility for shift coverage, specifically 2nd shift and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Administers professional nursing care to sick and/or injured employees.
• Performs and evaluates various clinical and diagnostic tests.
• Assists plant physician in minor surgical procedures.
• Interviews and documents medical history of employees.
• Works effectively with the Health Services team and other departments.
• Maintains appropriate medical records to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Performs and documents physical exams.
• Adheres to common practices and procedures throughout the department.
• Maintains equipment and supplies.
• Assists with the promotion of plant wellness programs.
• Works with health services customers in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
