Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals seeks an Occupational Health Nurse to lead health and safety activities across WakeMed facilities. The role includes evaluating infectious risks among healthcare workers, managing exposure responses, and coordinating return-to-work processes.

The nurse will ensure NC OSHA compliance, advocate for employee health, and provide direct nursing care, vaccination services, and health surveillance programs as part of a comprehensive occupational health program.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree with active licensure required.
• RN preferred; LPN acceptable per job requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred; licensure/certification required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and intervene for healthcare workers who may harbor infectious agents.
• Evaluate and follow up for employees exposed to hazardous or infectious agents in the workplace.
• Serve as case manager for occupational injuries/illnesses and the return-to-work process.
• Ensure facilities meet the NC Occupational Safety and Health Act requirements.
• Advise employees on health care and treatment and act as employee advocate.
• Provide direct nursing care and counsel on illness, injury management and prevention.
• Administers vaccines and health surveillance programs.
