UC Health's West Chester Hospital is hiring an Obstetrics Technician for the day shift in Labor and Delivery. Under RN direction, the OB Technician provides basic patient care, ensures safety, and supports family-centered needs.

The role performs scrubs for obstetrical cases, assists with vaginal deliveries, monitors patient condition, and transports patients as directed. High school diploma or GED required; STNA or RN student preferred.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 80 hours State Tested Nurse Aide Training OR 40 hours Acute Medical-Surgical/Hospital Training; OR an NLN RN student who completed a Med-Surg rotation preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Performs scrub duties for obstetrical surgical cases.
• Assists with vaginal deliveries (leg positioning, perineal prep, draping).
• Weighs patient (standing or bed weight).
• Performs bedside glucose finger sticks.
• Performs QC on lab instruments.
• Communicates with OB Manager on supply chain issues.
• Transports patients safely within the hospital and assists with discharge as needed.
• Maintains OB supplies and ensures stock levels are adequate.

Obstetrics Technician, Full Time, Day shift, Labor and Delivery

Under the direction of a registered nurse, the OB Technician assists in providing basic patient care within the obstetrical setting. The OB Technician supports patient safety and comfort by assisting with routine clinical tasks, observing and reporting changes in patient condition, and helping meet the physical, psychosocial, cultural, and age-specific needs of patients and their families.

Engages in population appropriate communication.

• Performs aspects of clinical care as assigned or delegated by the RN. All clinical procedures will be done under the supervision of an RN who has assessed the patient and determined appropriate tasks for delegation. Makes observations as directed by RN and reports deviation to RN.
• Performs scrub duties for obstetrical surgical cases, demonstrates knowledge of care and use of all equipment, instruments and supplies used for surgical procedures.
• Assists with vaginal deliveries (places legs in stirrups, scrubs perineum, and drapes patient.
• Weighs patient: standing or bed weight.
• Performs bedside glucose finger sticks.
• Performs Q.C. on lab instruments.
• Communicate with OB Manager on supply chain issues
• Incorporates patient safety and comfort to transport patients to/from other areas as directed; provides backup transport services to any department and/or other unit and/or assists with discharging patients home.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED minimum required. Successful passage of 80 hours of State Tested Nurse Aide Training OR 40 hours of Acute Medical-Surgical Training, Specialty Training and Hospital Specific Training; OR a student from an NLN accredited RN program having successfully completed one Medical-Surgical rotation or another acute rotation, preferred.

Years of Experience: No experience required. Operating Room experience preferred.

Required Certifications

• BLS certification- within 60 days of hire.
• Preferred: STNA.
