Job summary

St. Francis Medical Center, located in Los Angeles, seeks a Manager for the Obstetrics / Labor and Delivery unit.

The RN Manager will assume 24-hour administrative responsibility for the delivery of patient care and will lead nursing staff to ensure safety and quality. Responsibilities include developing department plans, coordinating with physicians and administration, and implementing performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
• NRP (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a perinatal nurse in an acute care setting.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assume 24-hour administrative responsibility for the management of Obstetrics / Labor and Delivery department.
• Supervise, assess, plans, implements and evaluates patient care.
• Develop and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current regulations.
• Supervise and evaluate all personnel assigned to the unit and effectively utilizes nursing personnel.
• Communicate effectively with staff, physicians and administration both written and verbally.
• Consults with staff, physicians and Nurse Executive on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.
