Job summary

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) invites applications for a Janitor in the Engineering Services Division at the Very Large Array (VLA). Based near Socorro, NM, the role keeps Observatory buildings clean and orderly, with potential security duties for buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities include cleaning offices and common areas, handling waste, restocking supplies, and assisting the Maintenance or Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One month of related experience and/or training.
• Must have a valid driver's license by start date.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not offered.
• Post-offer drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairs, shops, and other work areas.
• Perform routine cleaning like sweeping, mopping, waxing, polishing floors, and window washing.
• Assist with security duties and report irregularities to supervision.
• Work as part of Maintenance or Engineering & Services team as needed.
