Job summary

NRAO, operated by Associated Universities, Inc (AUI), is seeking a Technical Specialist to assist in the design, development, operations and maintenance of radio telescopes and related systems in New Mexico. The role covers environmental monitoring and water vapor radiometer support, with site options in Albuquerque or Socorro.

You will be part of a mission-driven, team-oriented environment requiring technical breadth and field readiness.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electronics or closely related field.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or closely related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support electronic design, layout, assembly, testing and troubleshooting with engineers and staff.
• Procurement and testing of microwave components and circuits (polarizers, couplers, amplifiers, cables, PCBs).
• Fabricate, assemble, and test prototype and production units.
• Use test apparatus or devise setups to test prototype and production units for performance.
• Analyze test data and publish results.
• Assist in field installation and maintenance as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
