Qualifikationen

• Demonstrated interest in clinical operations, quality improvement, or observation medicine.

Aufgaben

• Serve as Medical Director for the UVA Health Observation Unit.
• Provide clinical oversight to ensure safe, evidence-based, and efficient care delivery for observation patients.
• Establish and maintain clinical standards for observation medicine.
• Provide direct patient care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management of acute medical conditions in the observation unit.
• Oversee APPs practicing in the Observation Unit and mentor APP leadership.
• Lead development and revision of observation-specific policies, protocols, and treatment pathways.
• Collaborate with Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology and other inpatient services for patient selection and disposition.
• Coordinate with Utilization Review and Case Management to comply with CMS observation criteria.
• Work with revenue cycle to ensure proper coding and billing for observation visits.
• Monitor and improve throughput metrics and patient safety in the observation unit.
