Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Observation Emergency Department. The role requires more than 12 months of nursing experience, Maryland RN licensure, and active AHA BLS/ACLS certifications. A NIHSS certification is also required for unit-specific care.

The position is in the Observation unit of the ED, with a 7:00 AM–7:30 PM schedule. A $15,000 sign-on bonus may apply, subject to restrictions.

Qualifications

• RN license in Maryland or eligible via Compact state agreements.
• 12+ months nursing experience; solid knowledge and clinical skills.
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Must meet unit-specific certification requirements (Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and NIHSS).

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate independent care for patients within a clinical specialty.
• Serve as a clinical resource for others and advocate for patient/family needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care.
• Ensure safe, timely, efficient, patient-centered care per unit standards.
• Participate in unit operations, governance, and staff development.
