Job summary

Etsy is seeking an Software Engineer II, SRE (Observability) to design and support our telemetry stack across distributed systems. You will work with Prometheus, Grafana, BigQuery, StatsD, Vector, Google Cloud Logging, and Honeycomb to improve visibility of services and infrastructure in a cloud environment.

You will help craft the future architecture of how we run systems in the cloud while collaborating with an international team, reporting to the Engineering Manager for Observability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Observability systems/developer tooling, preferably in a cloud environment.
• Experience with metrics, logging, and tracing systems in production.
• Proficiency in one of PHP, Python or Go.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain an observability stack across services and infrastructure.
• Build scalable telemetry tooling to improve time-to-detect and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with developers to promote instrumented, reliable deployments.
• Support and evolve cloud architecture and IaC practices (Terraform, Chef/Ansible).
