Job summary

Baseten is seeking talented Software Engineers to join the Observability team within the Infrastructure organization. You’ll build high-throughput telemetry ingest and storage pipelines across multi-cloud infrastructure, own core observability platforms, and develop SDKs to emit high-quality telemetry from services.

You will collaborate with Inference, Product, and Infrastructure teams, drive alerting and SLOs, and explore AI/LLMs to enhance operational workflows while tackling high-impact

Qualifications

• Experience with at least one observability signal area and familiarity with others.
• Understanding of high-throughput data pipelines and columnar storage.
• Experience operating or building on top of observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, or similar systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Rust, or Go.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with internal teams to improve operational visibility and incident response.
• Interest in applying AI/LLMs to operational workflows like automated root cause analysis or intelligent alerting.
• Willingness to work on ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable telemetry ingest and storage pipelines for metrics, logs, and traces across Baseten’s multi-cloud infrastructure.
• Own and evolve core observability platforms, driving migrations and architectural improvements that improve reliability and reduce cost.
• Build instrumentation libraries, SDKs, and integrations to emit high-quality telemetry from services.
• Drive alerting and SLO infrastructure for reliable targets with minimal noise.
• Collaborate with Inference, Product, and Infrastructure teams to meet diverse observability needs.
