Job summary

3M is seeking an Observability Architect to define how the organization understands health, performance, and reliability of its technology environment. You will unify observability strategy across cloud, infrastructure, applications, networks, security, and critical services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or CyberSecurity (completed and verified prior to start).
• Ten (10) years of experience in IT infrastructure.
• Five (5) years of experience with cloud technologies.
• Three (3) years of experience with observability.
• Three (3) years of experience with AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Define the enterprise observability architecture, tools, roadmap, standards, and governance model.
• Integrate monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting capabilities across diverse platforms.
• Use Cribl and similar technologies to route, enrich, filter, and control telemetry before it reaches downstream platforms.
• Improve Splunk and CloudWatch implementations for operational visibility, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Create reusable patterns for dashboards, alerts, service-health views, and telemetry onboarding.
• Reduce alert fatigue by improving signal quality, ownership, prioritization, and escalation.
• Partner with application, cloud, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to design observability into systems from the beginning.
• Mentor engineers and help teams build the skills needed to operate reliable, observable services.
