Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant in Practice Operations to support the delivery of healthcare services within the clinic.

You will perform pre-visit planning, prepare patients for examinations, assist exam rooms, coordinate with Care Team on discharges and labs, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Education and experience requirements include a High School degree or MA program, one year of clinical experience (two years preferred), and current

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• One year of clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program required.
• Two years of experience in similar healthcare setting preferred.
• BLS/CPR: Current or within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating the patient’s medical record prior to the appointment.
• Completes pre-charting of value-based pieces up to five days prior to appointment; communicates with Care Team as needed.
• Prepares patients for examination including vitals, updating medication list and allergies.
• Assists in exam rooms, maintains supplies and handles biohazardous waste per protocol.
• Coordinates with providers regarding discharge, ED visits, labs and specialist visits.
• Participates in department meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
• Performs administrative tasks such as check-in/check-out and office procedures.
