Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to OB Triage patients with assessment, diagnosis, treatment and disposition.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for approximately 5-8 APPs.
• Develop and maintain the daily APP staffing schedule to ensure coverage.
• Respond to team call-outs and fill staffing gaps collaboratively.
• Communicate with resident and attending teams regarding triage needs.
• Serve as a liaison between OB Triage, MFM, Nursing and leadership.
• Conduct annual performance reviews with physician and admin oversight.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and professional development of APP staff.
• Assist with credentials and clinical privileges for APP team members.
• Organize and lead regular APP team meetings and initiatives.
• Participate in financial and operational discussions related to triage.
• Contribute to safety reviews, quality improvement and process enhancements.
• Develop workflows and algorithms to promote high-quality care.
• Coordinate with Compliance and Coding on APP billing practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and patient flow.
• Maintain effective communication among care team members.
• Participate in departmental meetings and act as clinical resource for APPs.

UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks OB Triage Team Lead to serve within our Labor & Delivery program. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Midwife to combine direct patient care with meaningful clinical and team leadership in a busy, high-acuity OB triage environment. While OB Triage is technically an outpatient service, it functions much like an inpatient acute-care setting. APPs evaluate patients presenting with obstetric concerns, determine appropriate treatment and disposition, and coordinate admissions when indicated.

The OB Triage Team Lead will provide clinical leadership and direct supervision for a team of approximately 5-8 APPs, while continuing to provide hands-on patient care. This individual will play an integral role in coordinating daily operations, developing schedules, supporting team members, and partnering with physicians, residents, nursing, MFM, and Labor & Delivery leadership to ensure high-quality, efficient patient care.
