Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA, seeks OB Triage Team Lead to lead a team of 5–8 APPs while delivering hands-on patient care in a busy Labor & Delivery setting.

The role requires a Master's degree in nursing or related field, MA licensure, acute care NP/PA/midwife certification, 5+ years of clinical experience, and proven leadership and collaboration with residents and physicians.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing or a healthcare-related field, including PA education.
• Massachusetts licensure.
• Certification as Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Midwife as applicable.
• Controlled substance authorization.
• BLS certification; ACLS if required by department.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
• Ability to independently provide direct patient management.
• Strong communication, organizational, clinical, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to OB Triage patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition or admission.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for approximately 5–8 APPs.
• Develop and maintain the daily APP staffing schedule for coverage.
• Respond to team call-outs and fill staffing gaps.
• Communicate with resident and attending teams regarding triage staffing and needs.
• Serve as a liaison between OB Triage, MFM, Nursing, Labor & Delivery leadership and IT.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for APP team members with leadership.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, orientation and professional development of APP staff.
• Maintain credentials and clinical privileges for APP team members.
• Lead regular APP team meetings and participate in safety, quality and process improvement initiatives.
