Job summary

UNC Health Appalachian is seeking an OB Technician (CNA) to support nurses in the Birthing Center. You will assist with patient care, procedures, and daily unit operations under supervision, contributing to a safe, compassionate patient experience during childbirth.

The role requires a CNA I certification, NC registry listing, BLS, and a high school diploma or GED. Prior CNA experience is preferred; benefits begin after 60 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of CNA I program listed with the North Carolina Healthcare Personnel Registry.
• Current CNA I license in North Carolina.
• BLS from the American Heart Association required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nurses in delivering safe, effective OB care.
• Provide basic patient care ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety.
• Support patient care activities under nursing supervision.
• Assist with procedures and patient care tasks within CNA scope.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized patient care environment.
• Support clinical workflows to ensure efficient unit operations.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Foster compassionate, patient-centered care and teamwork.
• Respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies, following policies.
