Job summary

Henrico Doctors Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Certified Obstetric Surgical Technologist to join a collaborative Labor & Delivery team. You will prepare the surgical suite, assist with procedures, and help ensure high standards of patient care.

You will contribute to aseptic practices, manage perioperative counts, and support nursing duties while advancing your professional development in obstetric surgery.

Qualifications

• Current Surgical Technologist licensure by the state of Virginia.
• Preferred 1 year experience as surgical technologist.
• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon performing surgical procedures in the Labor and Delivery Operating Room by handling surgical instruments, managing perioperative counts and participating in surgical time-outs.
• Utilizes principles of aseptic technique in creating and maintaining a sterile field.
• Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with Obstetrical Circulating Duties.
• Adheres to hospital safety policies and practices universal precautions.
• Contributes to the smooth operation of the Labor and Delivery Unit.
• Orders and stocks unit supplies.
• Assumes responsibility for professional development.
• Provides a safe environment for the patient during their perioperative experience.
• Supports patient teaching including family and/or significant others.
• Other duties, as appropriate to scope

Job Summary and Qualifications

What qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE

Required - Current Surgical Technologist licensure by state of Virginia

Preferred - 1 year experience as surgical technologist.
