Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support surgeons and nurses in the operating room at Mishawaka Medical Center. You will prepare sterile instruments, maintain a safe environment, and ensure readiness for procedures.

Ideal candidates have accredited surgical tech training, NBSTA certification within a year, a high school diploma, and CPR. Minimum 6 months nursing assistant and surgical tech experience, OB preferred, with no weekend call requirements.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited surgical tech training program.
• NBSTA Certification must be obtained within 1 year of completion of program.
• High School Diploma.
• CPR certification or able to obtain within 60 days.
• Experience: Minimum of 6 months as a nursing assistant and surgical tech with previous OB experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain sterile fields for surgery
• Pass instruments, anticipate surgeon needs, and handle specimens
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts
• Clean OR post-procedure and prepare tools for sterilization
