St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Associate in the Nursery and Obstetrics Department.

The role provides basic care, assists with activities of daily living, and supports EKG and venipuncture tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification within 6 months, and related PCA/PCT training or enrollment in nursing programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• PCA/PCT diploma with 6 months to 1 year healthcare experience or equivalent nursing coursework.
• Evidence of Nursing Fundamentals coursework or Nursing Assistant training program accepted.
• PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide, or CMA experience considered valuable.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide basic care to acutely ill patients under RN supervision.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Perform EKGs and venipuncture as directed by the Registered Nurse.
