Job summary

CentroMed is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians with examinations and nursing tasks across our San Antonio and New Braunfels sites. The role requires adherence to clinic policies and community health standards to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or equivalent with completion of a Medical Assisting Program and hands-on clinic exposure. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient interaction and safe laboratory practices at CentroMed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and completion of Medical Assisting Program.
• 1 year experience in a clinic or hospital setting preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Intake – takes patient history, vital signs, symptoms and documents such in the medical record.
• Administers patient immunizations following clinical protocols and provider's instructions.
• Administers medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
• Checks the treatment room for properly functioning equipment and stocks supplies.
• Maintains lab duties including daily QC and documentation, specimen processing, and provider notification of abnormals.
• Travels to other Centro Del Barrio sites to perform duties.
• Assists the provider in examinations and procedures as directed.
• Keeps and maintains inventory for the supply room and assists the LVN Nurse Supervisor.
• Performs venipuncture as ordered by provider.
• Abide by infection control and safety policies as dictated in manuals.
• Demonstrate competence with all patients and participate in Quality Improvement.
• Performs other duties as required.
