Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program prior to start date/transfer or equivalent Military experience with ability to obtain MA-I prior to start date.
• Interim Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire OR Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire
• Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) within 12 months of hire
• Basic Life Support required at hire
• If hired as MA-I, must obtain MA-C prior to the expiration of the MA-I credential.
• Knowledge and skills listed on the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Medical Assistant Competencies/Skills Inventory.
• 1 year MA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collection of data about health status of the patient, records vital signs, and notes in the medical record.
• Communicates attentively with patients, coordinates care, and supports team members.
• Provides patient education matched to learning needs and nursing plan of care.
• Documents patient history and procedures according to KFHPW standards; maintains safe environment.
• Participates in orientation and performance reviews and adheres to dress code policy.
