Job summary

Women’s Specialists of New Mexico seeks a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join the OB/GYN team. The role conducts obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound exams, ensuring diagnostic-quality imaging and patient-focused care.

Responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and staff, documenting findings, and maintaining equipment and infection control standards in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
• Ability to obtain ARDMS certification within required timeframe.
• OB/GYN specialty certification is preferred by the employer.
• BLS certification either current or obtainable within timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Perform obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations per orders and protocols.
• Capture diagnostic-quality images and measurements for interpretation.
• Assess fetal growth, anatomy, position, development, and well-being as ordered.
• Conduct transabdominal and transvaginal imaging to evaluate pelvic structures.
• Review images for quality and completeness before finalizing exams.
• Communicate urgent findings to providers per protocol.
• Document examinations, measurements, and observations in medical records.
• Explain procedures to patients and address questions within scope.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety during exams.
• Follow infection control and equipment cleaning procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to support care.
• Keep ultrasound rooms clean, stocked, and organized.
• Perform routine equipment checks and report malfunctions.
• Maintain required certifications and complete CE requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
