Job summary

MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital is seeking an Obstetrician-Gynecologist to provide comprehensive care for inpatient obstetric patients, including labor, delivery and postpartum coverage. You will manage obstetric emergencies, triage, and serve as attending for unassigned patients while supporting collaborating physicians.

The role emphasizes teamwork with nursing and outpatient providers, with emphasis on safe, evidence-based care and timely interventions in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Medical degree and OB/GYN residency completed
• Board certified or eligible in OB/GYN at time of employment
• Licensed in WA by employment start date
• DEA, NPI and prescriptive authority required
• Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association
• Strong diagnostic, surgical and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric care for patients in labor, including evaluation, management and delivery
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and perform cesarean sections as needed
• Manage obstetric triage and collaborate with nursing to ensure timely care
• Serve as attending physician for unassigned patients and support private-practice physicians
• Ensure continuity of care through clear communication with outpatient providers
• Prescribe and administer medications or therapies as appropriate
• Order radiologic imaging or labs when indicated
• Document patient encounters accurately in the EHR
• Participate in quality improvement, education and interdisciplinary meetings
