Job summary

MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA, seeks an experienced OB/GYN physician to participate in inpatient obstetrical care, including labor and delivery coverage, obstetric emergencies, and postpartum care. You will serve as attending for unassigned patients and collaborate with private practices to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with OB/GYN residency completed.
  • WA state license required by time of employment; DEA/NPI & prescriptive authority.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive obstetric care for patients in labor, including evaluation, management and delivery.
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies and perform cesarean sections as needed.
  • Manage obstetric triage and collaborate with nursing staff for timely care.
  • Attend unassigned patients and support private-practice physicians as needed.
  • Ensure continuity of care by communicating with outpatient providers and consulting services.
  • Prescribe and administer medications or therapies to treat disease or injury.
  • Order radiologic imaging or labs as indicated.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in the EHR and participate in quality improvement activities.

Position Summary

Physician participating in the care of inpatient obstetrical patients, including but not limited to coverage for labor and delivery and postpartum patients, obstetric emergencies, and triage.

Responsibilities
  • *Provide comprehensive obstetric care for patients presenting in labor, including evaluation, management, and delivery.
  • *Respond to obstetric emergencies and perform necessary surgical interventions, including cesarean sections.
  • *Manage obstetric triage and collaborate with nursing staff to ensure timely and appropriate care.
  • *Serve as the attending physician for unassigned patients and support private-practice physicians as needed.
  • *Ensure continuity of care by communicating effectively with outpatient providers and consulting services.
  • *Prescribe and administer medications or therapies to treat disease or injury.
  • *Order radiologic imaging or labs as indicated.
  • *Document all patient interactions accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR) inclusive of direct patient encounters and asynchronous care.
  • *Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
Requirements
  • *Medical degree (MD or DO) and completion of a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • *Board certified/eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology at time of employment.
  • *Licensed in the state of WA by the time of employment.
  • *DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority.
  • *Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association.
  • *Strong diagnostic, surgical, and communication skills.
  • *Compassionate bedside manner and ability to handle emergency situations.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $250.00 - $250.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
