Job summary

Kaiser Permanente seeks a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to assess selected patients in the designated service. The NP performs physical examinations, communicates with patients in person and by phone/electronically, and collaborates with department colleagues to ensure smooth, high-quality care aligned with established indicators.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Practices under the standard procedure established for the NP role consistent with Kaiser Permanente policy and in accordance with the California Board of Registered Nursing requirements.
• Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination.
• Performs assessment/data collection focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status; patient education and advocacy.
• Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need.
• Participates with physicians and other clinicians to assure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators.
• Reviews medical records for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
• Maintains communication with other health care providers and departments to ensure continuity of care.
• Establishes professional relationships with health care team, patients, and families; respects cultural and ethical beliefs.
• Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of health care team members; evaluates care effectiveness.
• Demonstrates safety knowledge in emergencies and documents events accordingly.
• Shows responsibility for professional practice and participates in staff development and risk management.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities and nursing research as requested.
• Exhibits a service philosophy in interactions and proficient use of computers/telecom for documentation.
