Job summary

The University of California - San Diego Medical Centers at Villa La Jolla OB/Gyn is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform patient care duties under supervision, including scheduling, basic clinical tasks, and front/back office support.

Requirements include CMA or MA certification, BART or BLS with a plan to obtain within six months, prior medical experience, and proficiency with IDX, Outlook, Word and Excel; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Previous experience in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of computer operations with IDX skills, Outlook, Work processing, Microsoft Word, and Excel skills.
• Medical terminology certificate and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling of patient appointments and associated patient system screens.
• Provide non‑licensed medical support to medical care providers in an outpatient setting.
• Independently perform and/or assist providers with exams and procedures, including administering injections and collecting specimens.
• Call in prescriptions and manage sterilization of instruments and examination room setup.
• Provide front desk/back-office support as needed.
