Job summary

Equus Workforce Solutions is seeking an Outreach Coordinator in Dayton, OH to recruit youth for the Job Corps program and conduct outreach in communities, agencies, and public events. The role supports meeting program goals and requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, four years of experience with youth aged 16–24, and the ability to travel and work some evenings or weekends. Proficiency in MS Word and basic IT tools is expected.

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel periodically and work some evenings/weekends.
  • Strong public speaking and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and online communication tools.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit eligible youth for Job Corps Program.
  • Conduct outreach activities in communities, agencies, American Job Centers, and public events.
  • Meet departmental and center goals and objectives.
  • Conduct orientation and interview with applicants including parents for minors.
  • Process applicant files (data entry, scanning on e-file).
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Coordinate with centers to support applicants in travel arrangements.
  • Perform Quality Assurance Checks on all applicant files.
  • Assess graduates' placement readiness and provide referrals and support services.
  • Ensure timely placement and retention of graduates in jobs or further education.
  • Promote job development with employers, One-Stops, and State Employment Agencies.
  • Communicate CSS and employability skills effectively.
  • Maintain staff, student, and property accountability.
  • Adhere to safety practices and foster a safe environment.
  • Attend required trainings; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description
  • Recruit eligible youth for Job Corps Program.
  • Conduct outreach activities in communities, agencies, American Job Centers, and public events.

  • Conduct orientation and interview with applicants including parent in case of minors.

  • Coordinate with centers to support applicants in travel arrangements.
  • Perform Quality Assurance Checks on all applicant files.
  • Assess graduates/former trainee's placement readiness, provide appropriate referrals and accompanying support services in accordance with DOL, Center, and Equus requirements.
  • Ensures timely placement and retention of assigned graduates and former enrollees in quality jobs, the military, or further education and training opportunities.
  • Promotes job development through direct contact with employers, One-Stops, JTPA, and State Employment Agencies.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
  • Attends all required staff training opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • above average public speaking skills and experience in same.
  • above average verbal and written skills.
  • above average problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • computer literacy; specifically, Internet, e-mail, and Word Perfect/MS WORD.
  • the ability to work some evening hours and periodic weekends.
  • the ability to travel periodically.
  • four years’ experience working with youths ages 16-24.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree. 15 Semester hours of psychology is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Driver’s License
