Summary/Objective:CTSI is looking for Asbestos Project Monitors/Air Sampling Technicians to act as the company’s representatives during asbestos abatements in various industry sectors.
Essential Functions
- Oversee asbestos abatement work to ensure that work is performed in accordance and in compliance with Federal, State, and Local Laws.
- Determine and monitor final air clearance during asbestos abatements.
- Collect PCM and TEM air samples and properly record chain of custodies, daily logs, and results reporting in fulfillment with assessment and monitoring requirements of asbestos abatements.
- Monitoring may include: Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Assessments; Asbestos and/or Lead Investigations; and Asbestos and/or Lead abatement monitoring.
- Position entails frequent travel throughout New York City, State, and Long Island. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
- Review, sign, date ACP15s and return to office in timely fashion.
- Provide daily project updates to project manager and inform of any issues in timely fashion.
- Through knowledge of project monitoring/air sampling Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations.

Work Environment: This job operates mostly in a field environment such as construction sites, businesses and residences.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is an on-call, per-diem position, and hours of work and days may vary. Flexibility in schedule is a must.
Required Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of work experience.
- Previous experience as a Project Monitor.
Licenses:
- NYS Asbestos Sampling Technician.
- NYS Project Monitor.
- NYS Asbestos Inspection. (helpful but not necessary)
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Willingness to work multiple and shifts and varying hours, including nights and weekends.
- OSHA 10-hr/30-hr Construction Certificate.
- Updated Fit Test and Medical Testing documents.
- Properly working air sampling pumps (helpful but not necessary).
- Calibrated rotameter (helpful but not necessary).
- 10 working air pumps (for asbestos monitoring projects).
- Car/vehicle and/or ability to commute to various job sites throughout NYC/Long Island area.
