Job summary

thelab is seeking a Freelance Studio & Equipment Coordinator to join our New York-based team, onsite at an international auction house. You will manage studio prep, lighting setup, and equipment check-in/out, and support on-site production in Midtown Manhattan and Red Hook, Brooklyn.

The role involves active studio work, on-site maintenance, and collaboration with producers, photographers, and client personnel. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and handle quick set changes.

Qualifications

• 1-3 Years in a studio, equipment environment with on-set experience.
• Present professionally to clients and crews.
• Working knowledge of lighting and camera platforms.
• Simple set build skills with quick set changes.
• Ability to set up to a lighting diagram and paint cy/cy.
• Interest in photography trends and emerging equipment.
• Proficient with Capture One, Google Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Able to stay productive on dark days.
• Interest in art is a bonus.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Studio maintenance and daily prep/reset, including active set days and dark day projects.
• Maintain on-site equipment room, check in/out rentals.
• Pack and deliver studio jobs on-site.
• Setup studios for photography, video, styling, production, cyc painting.
• Maintain cleanliness of studios and equipment rooms.
• Organise and track equipment repairs and maintenance schedules.
• Assist photographers on location shoots (NYC).
