Job summary

Lerch Bates seeks a Certification Inspector for our NYC Vertical Transportation team. You will inspect elevators, escalators, and related conveyances to verify compliance with codes and safety standards, serving building owners, contractors, and regulators.

You will document findings, prepare reports, and interact with diverse stakeholders, including code officials, architects, and management, ensuring high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certification required.
• New York City Department of Buildings Elevator Agency Inspector or Director License required.
• New York State Department of Labor Elevator Inspector License required.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• 10+ years elevator industry experience preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years inspecting, maintenance evaluations, audits, or related activities preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of ASME elevator codes, industry regulations, standards and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of elevators, escalators, moving walks, and other lifting equipment in various buildings.
• Evaluate equipment for compliance with building and elevator safety codes; document findings.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports for clients and authorities.
• Maintain inspection records and meet deadlines.
• Explain codes and inspection requirements to clients and stakeholders.
