Job summary

Lerch Bates, Inc. in New York City is seeking a Certification Inspector to inspect elevators, escalators, and related systems for code compliance. You will produce detailed inspection reports and collaborate with owners, contractors, and code officials to ensure safe operation.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
QEI certification required.
New York City Department of Buildings Elevator Agency Inspector license required.
New York State Elevator Inspector license required.
3+ years of inspection experience; 10+ years in the elevator industry preferred.
Strong knowledge of ASME elevator codes and safety standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel regionally as needed.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections of new and existing elevators, escalators, and moving walks.
Evaluate equipment installations for compliance with codes and standards.
Prepare complete inspection reports for clients and regulatory agencies.
Explain findings to owners, contractors, and code officials clearly.
Maintain inspection records and meet established deadlines.
