Job summary

Willdan Lighting & Electric, a Willdan Group subsidiary, seeks an Education and Workforce Development Lead in New York to design and implement inclusive training and career pathways aligned with NYC decarbonization goals.

The role partners with technical experts, community organizations, and contractors to expand equitable access to skills, certifications, and job opportunities in the clean energy economy. Strong collaboration and data-driven improvement are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; education/public policy preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in workforce development, training, or related leadership.
• Knowledge of building science, energy efficiency, construction trades is preferred.
• Familiarity with NYC building energy policy and multifamily operations is a plus.
• Experience with co-op/condo boards or stakeholder governance is a plus.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead workforce development strategy aligned with NYC building decarbonization.
• Coordinate existing training opportunities into clear learning pathways.
• Identify education gaps and develop new programming with providers.
• Build partnerships with MWBE firms, unions, schools, and community organizations.
• Oversee curriculum development, instructors, and delivery of training.
• Advance two training tracks: pipeline and capacity-building for stakeholders.
• Design Building Champion training pathways for boards and managers.
• Collaborate to adapt existing curriculum rather than duplicating materials.
• Promote equitable access through outreach and wraparound services.
• Track participation, certification, placement, and advancement; drive improvement.
