Job summary

ERM is seeking Environmental Permitting Advisors to support client operations across Albany/Syracuse/Buffalo, NY. You will manage environmental licensing and permitting for electric and gas projects to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental requirements.

This full-time, 1-year limited-term role involves coordinating permits through design and construction, training staff, and ensuring timely regulatory submissions.

Qualifications

• ABachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental/civil engineering, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience; demonstrate proficiency in Article VII and understanding of the new Article VIII.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards and legislation.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental licensing and permitting regulatory requirements.
• Project management experience.
• Familiarity with GIS.

Responsibilities

• Review electric, gas and facility capital improvement projects and facility modifications to evaluate potential impacts on the environment and the need for regulatory permits and/or authorizations.
• Oversee clients’ field operations, including the management and documentation of site visits, to monitor and facilitate compliance with applicable local, state, federal and company requirements.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding current and proposed federal, state and local regulations and clients’ Environmental Procedures to ensure compliance.
• Train and motivate engineering and corporate personnel to comply with environmental regulations and procedures; provide guidance and coaching.
• Successfully manage permitting within project schedules.
• Review and manage environmental aspects of projects during design and construction.
