Job summary

Rivian is seeking an NVH Development Technician to drive hands-on noise and vibration work on development vehicles. You will instrument cars, run subjective and objective NVH evaluations, and iterate countermeasures with engineers to quickly resolve prototype issues.

The role emphasizes strong measurement, collaborative problem solving, and the ability to deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision while enhancing Rivian’s vehicle quietness and overall quality.

Qualifications

• Root-cause vehicle NVH issues on prototype/development hardware and propose countermeasures.
• Familiarity with NVH test methodologies (road/track, chassis dyno, static/operational tests) and ability to run plans independently.
• Strong subjective evaluation skills to describe and rate NVH characteristics against data.
• Experience fabricating and iterating development-level countermeasures (damping, isolation, sealing, absorption, brackets).
• 5+ years in automotive repair, prototype build, or related technical field; capable of repairs, part swaps, inspections.
• Strong understanding of vehicle systems, EV architecture, with safety focus.
• Organized, detail-oriented self-starter able to support multiple programs in fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills with clean driver's license; willing to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle NVH development: troubleshoot, diagnose, and develop countermeasures across full-vehicle and subsystems.
• Instrumentation & measurement: plan/install NVH instrumentation, configure data acquisition, capture high-quality data.
• Test execution: conduct road/track/facility NVH evaluations and document findings for engineering decisions.
• Development support: enable rapid build-test-learn cycles by translating design changes to testable configurations.
• Capability building: maintain NVH instrumentation, tooling, and workshop procedures.
• Vehicle readiness: perform repairs, part changes, and inspections to keep development vehicles ready.
