Job summary

Infinity Healthcare Consulting is seeking a Dietetic Services Director to oversee the dietary department in a long-term care facility, ensuring safe, nutritious meals and adherence to federal, state, and local standards.

CDM certificate preferred and LTC experience preferred; you will coordinate dietary services with Nursing, plan meals, develop care plans, supervise staff, and ensure menus meet physician orders and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• CDM certificate preferred.
• Previous LTC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates dietary services with Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services, etc.
• Assist in developing preliminary and comprehensive dietary assessments and care plans.
• Schedule care plans and assessments for committee meetings.
• Ensure care plans are used in daily dietary services and identify any special equipment needs.
• Review and revise care plans quarterly and ensure staff follow approved plans.
• Provide substitute foods of similar nutritive value when residents refuse meals.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and sanitation standards.
• Inspect storage rooms and keep supply control up to date.
• Assist in identifying and classifying dietary functions and exposure risks.
• Assist in planning discharge dietary services.
• Participate in facility surveys and interviews for diet history.
• Develop methods to determine quality and quantity of food served.
• Ensure diet progress notes accurately reflect services and resident responses.
• Maintain and file menus per policy.
• Liaise with families and residents about meal planning.
• Visit residents to evaluate meal quality and preferences.
• Involve residents/families in setting objectives and goals.
• Plan regular and special diet menus as prescribed by physicians.
• Review diet plans for compliance with physician orders.
• Review dietary requirements during admissions and plan accordingly.
• Ensure nourishing snacks are offered at bedtime.
• Make daily rounds to ensure duties are performed.
• Attend mandatory meetings and in-services.
• Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
