Overview

The Job in a Nutshell:
This role requires an outgoing personality and passion for sharing nutrition knowledge and inspiring people to act and achieve their health goals. You’ll wear many hats while working in a fast-paced retail setting conducting classes, private coaching sessions, community outreach, and retail operations (e.g., customer service, stocking shelves, cleaning, etc.). As the store’s nutrition professional, you will act as an educational resource providing science-based nutrition education/training to the store Crew, our customers, and the community. This position is a front-line contributor to the Natural Grocers mission and plays an integral role helping Natural Grocers improve the health and wellbeing of our communities. Through providing free nutrition education and helping people understand why their food choices matter, you will play an important role in Natural Grocers' commitment to creating a sustainable, just, regenerative food system where humans, animals, and the earth can thrive.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

• Act as the nutrition education resource for customers, Crew, and community.
• Provide customer service in the vitamin aisles, assisting customers and offering education resources.
• Perform retail operations such as stocking, facing, and maintaining the department.
• Conduct nutrition education classes and outreach programs.
• Provide training to Crew members and maintain relevant educational materials and boards.

Challenges:

• Respond to questions and review summaries.
• Conduct private health coaching sessions.
• Build community relationships and seek outreach opportunities.
• Maintain continued education and review research.
• Assist with organizing events and managing educational supplies.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

• A degree or certification in nutrition or related field (e.g., dietetics, biology, biochemistry, naturopathy).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage customers and promote events and services.
• Organizational skills, self-motivation, and teamwork abilities.
• Comfort in working retail operations and delivering nutrition education.

Maintaining Nutrition Knowledge

Continuing education requirements must be fulfilled as per certification or degree standards. Maintaining 16 CE hours annually is required if no CEC is mandated.
