Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network is seeking a Nutrition Services Aide to support the delivery of nutrition services in a long-term care setting. You may assist with meal service, dining room setup, tray preparation, and sanitation while following food safety protocols and infection prevention practices.

You will help ensure patient satisfaction and compliance with regulatory standards, participate in training, and perform additional duties as assigned to maintain smooth dietary operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Experience in food service, dietary services, meal preparation, and operation of food service equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, safe food handling, and infection prevention is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assures that sanitation, food safety, and quality standards are met.
• Washes and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, tableware, and utensils as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment and food service equipment as assigned.
• Completes required logs and documentation as assigned.
• Prepares dining room tables and patient room trays with appropriate tableware, condiments, and tray tickets.
• Assists with food preparation, meal assembly, tray line operations, and portioning of food servings.
• Prepares and serves beverages for tray line operations and dining rooms.
• Performs cleaning and sanitation duties according to established schedules.
• Prepares and delivers nourishments and nutritional supplements identified with patient labels.
• Maintains tray tickets and updates meal service information as directed or required.
• Delivers soiled linens to the laundry department.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards in dietary and food service areas.
• Fills orders for assigned between-meal nourishments and snacks.
• Wraps flatware in napkins as applicable.
• Clears, sanitizes, and wipes dining tables and tray line areas following meals.
• Maintains daily care of dishwashing areas, pot and pan stations, lavatories, hand sinks, worktables, and dish storage areas.
• Empties trash receptacles each shift and cleans assigned areas.
• Performs floor care duties including sweeping, mopping, and maintaining cleanliness of dietary department areas.
• Supports compliance with food safety standards, sanitation requirements, infection prevention practices, and departmental procedures.
• Attends in-services, understands, and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.
• Responsible for assuring patient and resident safety.
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
