Job summary

Clay County Hospital is seeking a cafeteria worker to manage the lunch shift, handle the cash register, and prepare cold items for patient trays. You will ensure adherence to therapeutic diets when required and deliver items to various departments with a focus on friendly, timely service.

The role requires standing for long periods, light lifting, and basic food prep tasks, with a daytime shift from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, Sunday through Saturday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; reading/writing/oral communication competency required if not.
• Must obtain Food Handler's Certificate within 30 days of employment.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and handle cash transactions during lunch service.
• Prepare cold items for patient trays and assist with desserts and salads.
• Ensure patient diet orders are followed and communicated to staff.
• Deliver items to other departments and assist in food prep as needed.
• Wait on cafeteria customers and maintain friendly, timely service.
• Wash dishes and keep workspaces clean and sanitized.

Job description

The employee will be responsible for running the cash register in the cafeteria during lunch service, preparing cold items for patient trays, keeping up with patient diet orders, basic food prep including preparing desserts and salads, delivering items to other departments, waiting on customers in the cafeteria, dish washing and keeping workspaces clean and sanitized.

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but if no high School Diploma or equivalent, candidate must demonstrate competency in reading/writing/oral communication skills and employee must obtain at minimum Food Handler's Certificate within 30 days of employment. Knowledge of therapeutic diets is preferred.

Must be able to stand/walk on feet for extended periods of time, able to lift 50 lbs, frequent bending/kneeling, able to pick up items from the floor, able to use a step stool/small ladder safely to reach tall items and for cleaning purposes.

Full-time position with weekday shift of 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, varying days of the week (Sunday through Saturday). Pay begins at $16.73 and increases with experience.
